David K. Henderson, CFP® is president of The Henderson Group, which he founded in 1984. He is a Certified Financial Planning Practitioner™, and is one of a select group of professional financial planners who was admitted to the Registry of Financial Planning Practitioners.
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, Va.), David is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). He is past chair of the Board of Directors of the Richmond, VA International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) chapter – the FPA predecessor – and has served on the national boards of both the FPA Practitioner Advisory Council and the FPA Government Relations Committee. He was a founding member of the Central Virginia Society of Certified Financial Planners and was on the Board of that organization and the Central Virginia Financial Planning Association.
David was a founding member of The Capstone Group, a national financial planning study group comprised of presidents of 12 of the leading financial planning firms from around the U.S.A. He has lectured on personal financial planning topics to private groups and educational institutions, has been quoted in various print and internet publications, and was a financial planning consultant asked by USA Today to help respond to questions called into the annual USA Today’s “Money Hotline”. David and his wife Katherine were charter members of the Friends of Art council at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA. David has served on the Board of the Wildlife Center of Virginia, was founding Chair of the Wildlife Center of Virginia Foundation, served as Treasurer of the Advisory Committee to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, and served as Executive Committee member and Treasurer of the Augusta Regional Free Clinic.
David and Katherine have three daughters and two grandchildren, all living in Virginia.
